Momo King - Nepalese Cuisine

Are you familiar with Nepal? I am definitely not; besides watching Dr. Strange seeking for some Master in Nepal to heal his body. And of course, the beautiful streets and buildings being showcase in the movie. I believe Nepal is a stunning yet mystery country that I am looking forward to visit one day.

One of the straightforward way to understanding a country's culture, is not other than tasting the traditional cuisine🍴.  Courtesy of Mr Shyam and Mr Ramesh, I was able to try out the Nepalese cuisine, first time ever in my life! πŸ‘

It is very easy to locate Momo King with its symbolic logo.

Signature dishes are displayed on the menu board. You can find the full menu in printed version.

So, what is Momo? Momo is actually handmade Nepalese dumplings stuffed with marinated vegetable or chicken mince in flour dough mixed with onions, cabbage, Nepalese herbs and spices. You can have your Momo served in different ways, let's see what they got here! πŸ˜‰

*Note: One plate has 8 Momos & the price stated inclusive of GST.

The signature Steam Momo with chicken filling, RM12. Chinese has Siu Long Bao, while Nepalese has Steam Momo!! The momos were surprisingly juicy and dumplings skin were just nice, not too thick nor too thin. The chicken mince filling seasoned well and the texture wasn't too hard nor too soft. The first bite on momos have literally triggered my appetite to try other cooking style of momos. πŸ˜‹

Steam Momo with vegetable filling, RM10. Compare to chicken filling, i found the vegetable filing average, maybe due to the cabbage added in for this one, which tasted a little too green for me. I suggest you eat this one with the homemade chutney for a more complete taste.

Kothey Momo (pan fried), RM13 for chicken filling while RM11 for vegetable filling. This is like Chinese style of fried dumpling (ι”…θ΄΄), where the momos are just lightly fried so that the oil could enhance the taste of the dumplings.

Deep Fried Momo, RM13.90 for chicken filling and RM12.90 for vegetable filling. Although is deep fried but the dumplings are not oily at all. You wouldn't feel greasy and in fact, the deep fried momo is very nice and I think is suitable to be served during a party.

The chicken mince filling in the deep fried momo. You will be sure have enough filling inside, unlike some others dumpling that we have in the market, you pay for the dumpling skin. 😏

Soup Momo, RM15 for chicken filling while RM13 for vegetable filling. This is a spicy soup base, of course you can ask for less spicy. The steam momos absorbed the soup and make it another refreshing taste. Spicy lovers, do not miss this out! πŸ˜‰

C Momo, RM16 for chicken filling. This is deep fried momos served in sweet and sour sauce. The sauce is like our Chinese 'Gu Lu Yok' (ε’•ε™œθ‚‰) but enhance with slight spiciness. Even though this is not the signature dish but I think you should really try this out! Besides the signature steam momos, this will be my second favorite among all! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thukpa, RM15 for chicken while RM12 for vegetable. Boiled noodles and fresh mixed vegetables in Himalayan style soup. The first sip doesn't really bring us excitement, but the more you eat, the more you started to taste the soup. The nearest taste I can describe will be Kimchi soup without the sour element, or Rojak Mee sauce but more spicy. LOL. Is pretty hard to describe the taste and you should really try out yourself!

Masala Tea, RM5. Okay folks, please. MUST TRY THIS!! This is a Himalayan spiced tea made with milk Himalayan. It contains 5 types of spices. The taste is refreshing, not too sweet (you can always order less sweet if you want), and eventually warm up your body. It made my man repeating the same sentence over and over again, "I am not going to drink teh tarik if I can get this Masala tea!!!" πŸ˜‚

Complete my meal with this Masala tea is just fantastic! Oh, and you won't feel thirsty after you drank, unlike those Teh Tarik we had at the mamak, usually you will be searching for water to clear your throat after you finished your cup of Teh Tarik.

Oh yeah man! It is super addictive and I already found my favorite momos! Steamed chicken momos & C Momo!!! 😍
